Arts in full “Spring” in Melrose
Arts on the Equinox, public creativity festival, March 20-22 at Follow Your Art Community Studios

Follow Your Art Community Studios hosts “Arts on the Equinox” – a public creativity festival, March 20-22 at the Big Yellow House in Melrose.
The weekend offers activities across arts disciplines, for all ages, and at price points for everyone. Enjoy a visual art exhibit throughout the weekend of work from FYA students and staff, or join us for any of the following activities planned for the weekend:
Friday, March 20, 3:00pm: Official Ribbon Cutting with Mayor Paul Brodeur, the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, FYA Board members, and special guests. Free and open to the public.
Friday, March 20, 3:00-5:00pm: Open House. Tour our art making spaces, learn about class offerings, and enjoy hands-on “make and take” art and writing activities. Enjoy light snacks courtesy of Buckalew’s. Free and appropriate for all ages.
Friday, March 20, 7:00pm: Live Concert with Bitter Pill. “An anachronistic twist of folk, blues, jazz, and vaudeville, mixed with original spoken word and reading from classical literature.” Light bites from LaQchara. Tickets are $20. Ages 16+
Saturday, March 21, 9:00am-4:00pm: Creative Workshops for all ages! A series of 90-minute workshops in a variety of art disciplines: improv, collage, origami, gel plate printing, book making, poetry, caricatures, and ukulele lessons! Compliments food truck on site all day.
Saturday, March 21, 7:00pm: “Live from the Living Room” – it’s a block party in the Big Yellow House! Enjoy a “coffeehouse” style evening of live local music, emcee’d by Sam Hammar and Tom Catalini of MMTV’s “Let’s Talk Melrose, Melrose!” Light bites from BT’s Backyard BBQ. Tickets are $10. Ages 15+
Sunday, March 22, 9:30-11:30am: Creative Writing Drop-in Workshop led by local author Jane Roper. Free. No registration necessary. Ages 16+
Sunday, March 22, 11:00am-5:00pm: Open Studios. Drop in anytime, check out our artists in residence and The Writers Studio at the Big Yellow House. Free and open to all ages.
