Ask Alderman Zwirko Anything
Schools? Development? Snow shoveling? Favorite brand of yogurt? Ask Alderman Mike Zwirko anything on Nov. 7.

The following is a press release:
President Michael Zwirko of the Melrose Board of Aldermen has announced that he will hold an “Ask Me Anything” session on Wednesday, November 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Leading Edge community room on Main Street (Formerly known as the “ReMax” office). “I am holding this ‘Ask Me Anything’ session because I want to provide an avenue for residents to ask questions on issues or items they have on their minds. I also want an environment that allows for folks to engage with me outside of the Aldermanic Chamber,” Zwirko said.
“Coming off the heels of the Mayor’s listening sessions, I felt that many Melrosians are seeking opportunities to learn more about their community and the administration of their local government. I also think it is important to do so in a setting that doesn’t limit the items of discussion. Keeping it open on all topics will allow for a better flow of conversations and opinions,” Zwirko stated. “I may not have all the answers either, but this exercise isn’t about that. This is about providing a vehicle for engagement. Our Alderman meetings provide opportunities for the public to comment, but there are restrictions - the public can only comment on items currently on the agenda. Here, residents can use this event to bring forward concerns, observations and any other item on their mind,” Zwirko continued.
The “Ask Me Anything” event was born from similar events used by the internet community users on the website Reddit. This forum has been used by celebrities, politicians and CEO’s. Residents may also participate online via Facebook and ask their questions there. “I thought that by leveraging the same type of environment allowed in the Reddit sessions, it would engage the public more. There will be a certain amount of chaos there, but that’s fine. I welcome it,” Zwirko said. “The key point here is engagement. Many times, more so than not, it has been residents who have raised an issue or a concern that has sparked change. I need to know about it, if I am going to be able to address it. So please, come to Leading Edge on Wednesday, November 7th at 7 PM and speak up!” Zwirko concluded.
