Best Vegetarian and Vegan Options in Melrose
For this week's Patch Picks, we asked where to find the best vegetarian meals in restaurants and the best places to buy vegan products.

Finding vegetarian and vegan food at restaurants and grocery stores has become easier over the last decade, but the best stuff can be difficult to find if you don't know where to look.
So to help out your neighbors who don't eat meat or meat products, we asked for your tips for the best vegetarian and vegan options in Melrose (or nearby). Here's what you told us, mostly through our Facebook Page:
- , 164 Green St., Melrose: Amie said, "The health food store on Green Street is awesome!"
- 454 Franklin St., Melrose: John told us via Twitter, "Spice Thai has great vegetarian options!" The takeout Franklin Street store also has a full service restaurant, Spice of Melrose, at 530 Main St. in Melrose.
- , 6 Central Square, Stoneham: Betsey said, "Rang Indian Bistro in Stoneham has some fabulous vegetarian and vegan choices. We love their malai kofta (vegetable croquettes), saag paneer (spinach and cheese), baingan bharta (spicy roasted eggplant), and aloo matar (peas and potatoes) as entrees, and they have several delicious appetizers as well. They also have tasty non-vegetarian options, for those dining in a mixed party."
- , 1153 Broadway, Somerville: Michelle said, "Also not in melrose, but worth the trip is True Bistro in Teele Square in Somerville. I'm not a vegan myself but thought it was delish." This vegan restaurant also offers a selection of vegan wines, beers, cocktails and desserts.
- Domino's Pizza 385 Franklin St., Melrose: Really? Domino's? Really. Mina tells us, "You can get a vegan pizza at Dominoes—if you choose the thin crust, red sauce, no cheese option. The other crusts are not vegan."
