Breakheart Reservation Drowning Victim ID'd

The 20-year-old was trying to swim to an island in the lake when he went underwater.

SAUGUS, MA – Officials have identified the 20-year-old man who drowned in Silver Lake at Breakheart Reservation Wednesday. Uwaldo Erazo, a Honduran national living with a cousin in Lynn, went underwater while trying to swim to an island in the lake with two of his cousins, the Essex District Attorney's office said.

Erazo's cousins searched for him but could not find him, according to the DA. Police received two calls around 4:50 p.m. for a missing person and pulled Erazo's body from the water about an hour later.

He was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:24 p.m.

Foul play is not suspected, officials said.
