Save money and help the planet by getting broken and damaged household items fixed at Lend and Mend's upcoming Repair Cafe. This free community event runs from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 16, at the Milano Center, 201 W. Foster Street in Melrose.
Volunteers will be on hand to assess items, then either fix them or help make a plan for how and where to get items fixed. Attendees can bring lamps, small kitchen appliances, small furniture, clothing, stuffed animals, textiles, and more. Items must be small and light enough for one person to carry.
Lend and Mend, a Melrose-based company focused on reuse and repair, organizes repair cafes and other sustainability-focused initiatives.
Attendees can also get answers to their questions about laptops and cellphones. SDM Foundation, a Melrose nonprofit that offers free technology education and support (sdmfoundation.org), will be available to provide information about those devices.
