Yesterday afternoon, Ashley Reardon, a student at St. Mary's School, noticed that the American flag had become detached from the flagpole and tangled up in a tree in Mary Foley Park. Most likely the flag landed there because of the blizzard last week. Ashley immediately wanted to get it, but her mother thought they should reassess the situation since the flag seemed a bit high. Ashley continued to insist so her mom let her trek across the snow in her sneakers for a better look. She climbed right up and after a bit of finagling was able to untangle the flag, which was still in good condition. Ashley's action brings a new meaning to “Capture the Flag” for this 7th grader!
