City of Melrose Announces Date of Milano Center Re-Opening
The Milano Center - a community gem - is the social hub of the Melrose Council on Aging.

The City of Melrose is pleased to announce that the Milano Center, the community’s recreation and social hub for adults 60 years and older, will open to the public on April 11.
“We’re thrilled to once again open our doors and look forward to providing excellent programming to our older adults living in Melrose,” said Stacey Minchello, Executive Director of the Melrose Council on Aging (COA).
Beginning April 11, community members will be able to enjoy the Milano Center, its fully stocked library, robust event programming, and kitchen, which now boasts additional equipment including a new stove. The Center is also ready to offer its members physical health and
wellness classes such as zumba, yoga, tai chi, and line dancing – all of which are taught by certified instructors.
“We’re grateful for the support from Mayor Brodeur, Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Senator Jason Lewis, the Melrose Council on Aging Board members and the FRIENDS of the Milano Center. I’d also like to give a special thanks to the Chair of the Melrose Council on Aging,
John Capuano, and Melrose Department of Public Works,” added Minchello. “Finally, I’d like to thank our members – all of whom graced us with patience and understanding during our renovation phase.”
The Milano Center will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., and 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Fridays.
In May, the Council on Aging also hopes to complete the final renovation of their outdoor patio space where community members will be able to garden, gather, enjoy BBQs and entertainment such as live music, comedy nights, improvisation game shows, bingo, or simply enjoy the
scenery.
Community members can call the Milano Center at 781-662-6886 to learn more.
"The Milano Center is not a simple community resource for our older adults,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “It’s a place where folks can engage with their community, and receive social support, access fitness programing, educational workshops, meals, transportation services, and much more. Thank you to all who supported the center’s renovation – you have truly made a difference in the lives of our community members for years to come.”
