The City Tree

Today the rain has been falling gently all morning.

The long web like twigs of the tree are holding on to drops of rain that looks like upcoming spring buds.

A slight breeze and those buds fall to the ground, only to be replaced by more, and the branches and twigs are still again. Through the bare branches the sky is grey. The image is scary, like fingers reaching, reaching to grow; ready to sprout real small red seeds and green leaves.

This will not happen today. Mother Nature has predicted high winds and cold rain for later in the day, but for now it is scary and still.
