Cold fall day

After a small rain shower the sun shines, creating a glistening glow on Ell Pond.

Through the bare trees I can see the sky has turned from grey to soft blue, with puffy white clouds.

The wind moves the naked branches to a slow dance, and those trees still holding on to leaves, allow them to fall gently to the ground, where they add to those that already cover the green grass.

It is silent here except for the sound of the wind and an occasional car passing by on the road behind me.

There is no horn blowing, no shouting of the children welcoming the end of classes yet; only the peaceful quiet of a cold fall day at the pond.
