It was not a gentle rain, but a downpour! The grey sky opened and released a flood upon the earth. The lake was pounded with heavy drops that bounced upon the surface of the water; seeming to dance like the beat of sticks upon a drum.
The trees accepted the rain to cool them off after so many hot and dry days. There was very little wind and the leaves of the trees lay still on their branches.

The dry ground has been waiting for relief of the heat also, but this rain did not seem to comport the soil.
The dandelions drooped but seemed to smile…. And the rain stopped.
