Driver Rescued After Car Rolls Over In Melrose

MELROSE, MA — A driver was taken to the hospital after a vehicle rolled over on a city roadway early earlier this week.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 on Main Street outside Collette Bakery and Melrose Nails. A blue hatchback flipped onto its right side in the middle of the roadway, leaving the driver trapped inside.

The City of Melrose told Patch that responding crews found the vehicle on its side with one person inside. Ladder 1 and Engine 3 responded to the scene, with crews taking approximately 12 minutes to safely extricate the driver from the vehicle.

“The victim was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital by Armstrong Ambulance,” a city spokesperson told Patch. Additional information about the extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately available.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
