Driver Takes Out Bus Stop Out On Main Street: Melrose Police Log

MELROSE, MA — A bus stop on Main Street was taken out by a man driving in the early-morning hours of New Year's Day.
According to police, Alexandre Bretas, 46, of Stevens Place was driving around 4:50 a.m. when there was a brief altercation causing Bretas to lose control. The car spun sideways into the bus stop in front of 340 Main St., a tall apartment building with offices.
No injuries were reported.

Bretas was issued a summons on charges of wanton destruction of property more than $1,200 and assault and battery.

8:12 a.m. — Report of a man wrapped in a towel yelling at people near City Hall. Police said he was on his way to Oak Grove.
6:38 p.m. — Two 16-year-olds were arrested on assault and battery and unarmed robbery charges after a person reported their son was robbed.

2:23 p.m. — Michelle Thomson, 38, of Braintree was issued a summons on a charge of violating a harassment prevention order.
6:14 p.m. — A woman said someone hit her and her dog at Franklin and Vinton streets in a hit-and-run.
Sunday, Jan. 5
8:39 p.m. — Jason Lampedecchio, 28, of North Reading was issued a summons on charges of a motor vehicle lights violation and operating a motor vehicle with a suspending licenses after being stopped on Tappan Street.
