Many of us don’t bother to vote in primaries or preliminaries but they are equally as, if not more, important than the general election in November. We need to turn out in large numbers on September 17th as we did for the override in April. Regardless of how we voted on the override, it is now most important that we elect a mayor who will not squander our hard -earned money. We look at our City as a vehicle that has been idling in neutral for nearly two year —we cannot afford to stay in this position and we certainly can’t go in reverse. We need a mayor who, from day one, can get in the driver's seat and take this city on the best course possible.
It is no surprise that in a community like Melrose we are fortunate to have five truly dedicated people running for Mayor in the preliminary election on September 17th. We feel that Mike Zwirko is the best of these candidates to put behind the wheel. Unlike some of our candidates, Mike was not born and raised here. He chose Melrose—he chose to serve this community and make it his home and make it better.

Mike has the qualities of the leader we need—He listens: he is open to suggestions, innovation and even criticism. He shows up: with little in the way of candidate forums being offered, Mike chose to conduct his own open to the public Q and A sessions at Leading Edge on Main Street to hear our concerns. He is inclusive: Mike’s vision for the city is one that includes diversity and collaboration. He is responsive: Mike is dedicated to his current position as Alderman/Councillor at Large in addition to his full time positions in business as well as at home. He will be ready on day one to take over and steer this city in the right direction.
Often people complain that our elections don’t offer us choices. Well on September 17th, you have five choices, but one is clear: Mike Zwirko. We hope that you will join us and vote for Mike Zwirko on Tuesday September 17th.
