Hallmark Health to offer Healthy Heart series

The Hallmark Health System Cardiac and Endovascular Center is offering a series of lectures over the next few months that will focus on preventing heart disease, nutrition and managing stress.

 The first lecture will be held Wednesday, April 13, 6 to 7 p.m., at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Perkins Lecture Hall. The topic of the evening, presented by Carl Turissini, M.D., will be heart disease: signs, symptoms and prevention as well as the latest in diagnostic testing and treatment of heart disease.

 The lecture series will continue on Wednesday, May 11, 6 to 8 p.m., at Doucet Remodeling & Design, 1 Central St. in Stoneham. Presented by Hallmark Health’s chef Peter Giuliano and Jillian Pollock, RD, LDN, participants will learn how healthy food preparation can lead to a healthy heart. Live demonstrations, nutritional tips, food sampling and take home healthy heart recipes will also be a part of the evening.

 The final lecture will be held Wednesday, June 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Perkins Lecture Hall and will be presented by Hallmark Health’s Cardiac Rehab Program staff. Participants will learn how stress reduction and regular exercise can keep your body in healthy condition and how a healthy body can ward off cardiovascular disease much better than an unconditioned one.
