Temple Beth Shalom, Melrose’s Reform Jewish synagogue, is offering Shalom Tots, a program designed to provide a meaningful, educational, and fun experience for families with children who are not yet old enough for the Shalom School. This class will meet on one Sunday a month. The first session, which will introduce young children to the Jewish New Year, meets on Sept. 23, 2012, from noon to 1 PM.
Sharon Wyner, the program’s coordinator, says, “We realize that a lot of families want to participate in Jewish programming before their children are old enough for religious school. We invite all families in the surrounding communities to join us.”
At each session, Wyner will read a story, sing interactive or participatory songs, and do a hands-on craft project. And, she continues, “Of course, we’ll have everyone's favorite—food! I want to provide a Jewish experience and at the same time give these young Jewish families a place to socialize and make new friends.”
