Build Smart Towards the Stretch Code and Beyond
The Department of Energy Resources (DOER) will be offering a workshop for builders and designers in the Melrose area in the Gar Room on the second floor of Memorial Hall on Wednesday, October 12. The 8:30 am – 2:00 pm session, Smart Building: High Performance Homes, will provide you with an opportunity to learn how to move towards building higher performing homes by utilizing better practices, while at the same time ensuring compliance with energy codes.
The workshop starts from the ground up, from foundation to roof, describing techniques and practices that can be used to effectively build energy efficient homes that have lower operating costs, improved comfort, and comply with the base and stretch energy codes. Case studies will show proven methods that have enabled builders and designers to build cost effective high performance homes.
It is recommended you pre-register for the class; registration fee is $25, free for building officials, and includes breakfast, lunch and CEUs/LUs from BBRS, BPI and/or AIA. For more information or to register, call or email Lisa Karlin at 413-586-7350 X240 or at training@cetonline.org. The workshop will be presented by the Center for EcoTechnology and Conservation Services Group.
