Fifth Middlesex District Senate Candidates Talk Issues
State Sen. Jason Lewis and challenger Sam Hammar will take part in a forum Aug. 23.

In a mid-term season in which the majority of lawmakers won't be challenged as they ease into another term without an opponent, the race for the Fifth Middlesex District stands out. Winchester's Jason Lewis is the only state senator slated to have an opponent in the primary and - if successful Sept. 4 - the general election in November. That opposition comes in the form of Melrose's Sam Hammar.
The two will take part in a forum hosted in part by Malden Access TV on Thursday, Aug. 23. It will be moderated by Guillermo Samuel Hamlin. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
