A foggy day

by Shirley Rabb

I cannot see the other side of the
lake. The fog has filled the morning and the frozen lake seems to be a mirage.

The rain has been falling all night
and still falls like a veil of mist over the scene before me.

The birds have returned; the blue
jays earlier, and now the goldfinch, chickadees and junco’s.

The green trees and bare birch are
still. I am able to see thru to see the grey sky. It is an ominous sight out of
a scary movie; but it is soothing, mesmerizing with wonder.

The rain has melted some of the snow,
and there are a few bare spots under the trees. The green canoe is visible, and the red picnic table,
still partially covered with snow, brightens up that corner of the yard.

The only movements are the birds and
my pen on the paper.
