The free program is made possible through FYACS’ Arts for All assistance and outreach program. Senior citizens interested in attending should call the Milano Center at (781) 662-6886 to register.
“We are committed to serving diverse populations through our programs. The beauty of this collaboration is that it removes barriers for older adults who might find it challenging to come down to The Big Yellow House to take a class,” said Chiara Pieri, Program Coordinator at FYACS, referring to the arts center’s location at 647 Main Street in Melrose. “We hope that this is the first of many artistic collaborations with the Milano Center,” said Pieri.

“We’re always looking to engage older adults in our community with activities that positively impact their daily lives,” said Stacey Minchello, Executive Director of the Council on Aging. “We’re excited to be able to offer writing classes here at the center,” she said.
The four-week writing series was inspired by the monthly creative writing sessions offered onsite at FYACS. Each month, adults ages 17+ explore a different genre or craft element through writing prompts, readings, and group discussion. No experience is needed; just the desire to write.
