Hammar Doubles Signature Goal In One Day

Democratic challenger collects over six hundred signatures

Democratic candidate Samantha "Sam" Hammar has collected enough signatures to appear on the ballot in the September primary election for the Fifth Middlesex District Senate seat. The campaign planned to collect over six-hundred signatures last weekend -- double the number required to appear on the ballot -- but cancelled the second day of their “Signa-palooza” event after reaching their goal by Saturday evening.

“The voters of the Fifth Middlesex are eager and excited for a new, passionate voice, and I hope to be that for them,” says Hammar. “This race will be long and hard, but with this amazing community pushing us all forward, we are a force to be reckoned with.”

Hammar’s signature drive attracted over forty volunteers, many of whom were disappointed the event was canceled early. “We were glad to not be sending volunteers out in the freezing rain, “ says Volunteer Coordinator Jhana Wallace, “but there will be plenty more opportunities for folks to get involved with Team Sam.”
