Help For Too Much Sitting

Mat Pilates can help counteract the ill effects of too much sitting

Even if you exercise regularly, don’t consider yourself to be out of shape, and are not overweight, chances are high that you are feeling the effects of sitting. We are sitting too long at our desk, in our cars & on our sofas. There are changes in our muscles & even our internal systems that result from sitting at our desks, commuting to work, etc. Your hip flexors and hamstrings shorten and tighten, while the muscles that support your spine become weak and stiff.

My Pilates class addresses these issues by giving you strong, flexible hip, abdominal, and back muscles which are the key to recovery from and prevention of low back strain. I also give instruction on exercises and stretches that you can then bring back to your desk to
help combat the effects of prolonged sitting.

The smooth, steady movements quiet your mind and soothe your nervous system. As you lengthen and strengthen your muscles, you'll improve your circulation and whisk tension away. Each Pilate’s workout can leave you feeling calm, balanced, and rejuvenated. It is very beginner friendly since all movements are demonstrated with options best suited to each participant’s fitness level.
