MELROSE, MA — Christina Jo DiCalogero has been selected the new principal of the Hoover Elementary School, effective July 1.

DiCalogero was the assistant principal at Salem's Horace Mann Laboratory School since 2014. She started her educational career at the Chelsea Public Schools in 2001. Superintendent Cyndy Taymore selected DiCalogero from three finalists who made it through a search that started in September.

"Christina comes to us with more than 15 years of experience in public education," Taymore said. "As an educator, she holds strong beliefs that all students are entitled to a high quality education that fosters each student's academic and social emotional growth. Her most recent leadership position in Salem and her mentoring work in the Chelsea Public Schools make her the ideal person to lead the Hoover School."
