Melrose Human Rights Commission Vacancy

Are you interested in serving as a Melrose Human Rights Commissioner? The Commission (MHRC) is dedicated to upholding the human rights of all persons in Melrose regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, gender, age, ancestry, sexual preference, marital, family or military status, source of income or disability.

The MHRC’s mission involves work in the areas of housing, employment, education, public accommodation, city services, insurance, banking, credit and health care.

The commission is currently seeking applications from individuals interested in serving in the role of commissioner. Terms are for three years. Commission members attend monthly meetings and support commission work and programs sponsored by the commission.

The MHRC takes a proactive approach towards the support and defense of human rights in the city. Collaborating with various community partners, civic and faith-based organizations, and city agencies, the commission supports such efforts as the annual International Welcome Reception, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and dinner/program, the Global Education Program at Melrose High School.

The MHRC is looking for commissioners who share this approach to build creative solutions for a more inclusive and welcoming community.
