Body Of Missing Saugus Kayaker Found
Craig Dustin did not return Tuesday from a kayaking trip to the Saugus River.
SAUGUS, MA – Police and Coast Guard crews found the body of missing kayaker Craig Dustin, Sr. Wednesday near the Beachmont area of Revere, the Coast Guard said. The 72-year-old Saugus resident was reported missing Tuesday after he did not return from a kayaking trip to the Saugus River.
Dustin was last seen around 11 a.m. Tuesday when he departed from a boat ramp near Fox Hill Club in Saugus, according to the Coast Guard. He failed to return home at 2:30 p.m. as planned, and his son found his father's car at the launch site and alerted the Coast Guard.
Around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, search crews found Dustin's kayak washed ashore near Winthrop Parkway in Revere. His wallet was inside.

The search spanned 25 nautical square miles and continued overnight in Lynn Harbor, Nahant Bay, inland waters from Point of Pines and the shoreline from Winthrop to Revere.
"This is a sad ending to a difficult search," Capt. Claudia Gelzer, Coast Guard commander, Sector Boston. "Our hearts are with his family and the local community."
