  • She is a lifelong resident of Melrose – she knows and loves our city.
  • Her experience as a public servant to our city involves her 14 years as school committee member, alderman, and then as city councilor.
  • Her experience outside Melrose includes being representative, vice president and then president of the MA Municipal Councilors’ Association, Board of Directors of the Mass. Municipal Association and then appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Local Government.
  • Her current leadership roles include membership on the Melrose Permanent Scholarship Fund, Chamber of Commerce, MMTV, Melrose Fish and Game Club, and Associate member of the Lt. Norman Prince VFW Post #1506.
  • She has a B.S degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration from Northeastern University, summa cum laude and a M.A. in Political Science from Emerson College
  • Her financial background includes being a budget management analyst for the Town of Norwood where she assisted the town in preparing contract negotiations, working with Covid issues, grant administration and procurement for the school, municipal airport, and light & broadband departments.

Given the school financial issues facing our city and the need to seek more innovative solutions to deal with shrinking revenue streams, we need a creative and seasoned professional who knows our city, and who has the financial acuity and the experience to deal with an ever-changing financial environment.

There is simply no other candidate in the race that can match the length and breadth of Monica’s experience and as such she is imminently qualified to be the Mayor of Melrose. And because of this, she has my vote on September 19th and November 7th.
