Letter: Vote Medeiros Solano for fiscal responsibility & transparency

To the Voters of Melrose:

My name is Fred Richards I am writing in support of Monica Medeiros Solano for Mayor of Melrose. My wife Carol and I have lived in Melrose for over 52 years and had the pleasure of raising two boys who benefited not only from our strong school system but the wonderful friends and neighbors we have met throughout the years. I have also served in the city council representing Ward 4 for 8 years including President of The Board. I love Melrose and cherish the life that this City has afforded me and my family.

I believe that Melrose can remain a beautiful, accessible, and semi-affordable city while at the same time demonstrating strong fiscally responsibility. Just as importantly, fiscal responsibility can be more meaningful when it is communicated in an open and transparent way. If we all understand the financial issues we are facing, including how we got there, together as a city we can begin to work on solutions. Over the course of Monica’s 14 years of public service, she has shown that we can pay attention to the important details, while at the same time, keeping the greater good top of mind. These are some the reasons I feel that Monica Medeiros Solano is the best choice to lead our city.

We need a mayor who will inspire us to become more active in our community and vocal in our Government, a mayor who is comfortable answering to the voters. Simply by listening and encouraging the engagement of all stakeholders, Monica will ensure that everyone has seat at the table. Now, more than ever, we need a strong, experienced leader - and I believe that Monica’s 5 year strategic plan coupled with a goal of achieving the Government Finance Officers Association Award is an admirable goal and I believe with Monica’s leadership – an achievable one.

A vote for Monica Medeiros Solano is a vote for open, responsible, trustworthy, and inclusive Government – something that will be so refreshing in the difficult world we live in today.
