Medeiros Solano receives Baker, Polito Endorsement

The Medeiros Solano campaign announced today that former Melrose City Councilor & School Committee member Monica Medeiros Solano has received the endorsements of both former Governor Charlie Baker and former Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito.

“My colleague and friend Monica Medeiros Solano is running to be Melrose's first elected woman Mayor. I've known Monica personally for many years, and I know she's the right choice for Mayor of Melrose because she's a seasoned, intelligent, compassionate, experienced city leader who rolls up her sleeves and works with everyone to successfully accomplish change for the better,” said Baker.

“Charlie Baker has a proven track record of bringing people together. That is the kind of leadership I want to bring to Melrose,” said Medeiros Solano. “I want to bring people together and foster that strong sense of community that makes Melrose so special.”

Baker went on to share his experience working with Medeiros Solano:

“I have seen Monica in action - working to stay within budget and make sure taxpayer's dollars are well spent, working to protect the environment, working to expand tax relief programs for our seniors, working to create affordable housing, working to improve education and the security of our schools, working to protect our public safety personnel and to make sure our police and firefighters have both the buildings, equipment, and compensation they need and deserve to protect and serve all of us, and even working to create the Melrose dog park to give our furry friends a safe play space,” said Baker

Former Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito also shared her experience working with Medeiros Solano: “I worked with Monica on many initiatives to improve education, our local economy and how we provide services at the local level. I was impressed with her work with the Local Government Advisory Council and the Mass Municipal Association. Monica knows how to run a city,” said Polito.

Medeiros Solano expressed her gratitude for their endorsement. “I am honored to receive these endorsements from former Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito.” Citing their collective service as members of their Select Boards, Medeiros Solano said, “They get local government, and they know how to lead.”

When asked why he chose to make an endorsement in this race, Baker said, “If you know me, you know that I don't blindly support or endorse candidates based on any litmus test, and no one should. I have worked with Monica time and again to successfully make Massachusetts a better place for us all, and I have no doubt that Monica will continue to do the same for Melrose as your next Mayor. So in this election, please vote for Monica for Mayor of Melrose!"
