Melrose Awarded $25K in State Funds For City Projects

The state's Metropolitan Area Planning Council granted Melrose a quarter of $100,000.

Melrose has been awarded $25,000 in District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA) funding, according to a missive from State Senator Jason Lewis.

The financing, awarded by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, matches the amount that it’s said the city has already set aside for its municipal Master Plan.

“We are pleased to partner with the city of Melrose on their upcoming Master Planning project, and look forward to engaging residents in an inclusive, innovative process to help shape the future of the community,” Senior Regional Planner Manisha Gadia Bewtra, MAPC project leader, of Melrose, said in the press release.

DLTA grants were created in 2006 to pay the Regional Planning Agency to give towns and cities technical assistance on regional collaboration, economic development, housing, zoning, and environmental protection. The State Legislature allocated it $2.8 million for the fiscal year 2015.
