Melrose Gets New Food Delivery Option

UberEATS launches today in Melrose. See what it is.

MELROSE, MA — Just in time for those days of bitter cold where you'd rather eat your sponge than leave the house, UberEATS is launching in Melrose! The food service delivery program launched Thursday in town.

So how does it work? Well, I just downloaded it to give it a shot. Here's what I noticed:

You can log in with your Uber account or register. Then, input where you want food delivered. For the purpose of this exercise, I selected City Hall. (Sorry Dolan, this is just a test!)

Then you can swipe through different eateries that offer the service. I can get anything from Stearns & Hill Bistro to Kelly's or Kowloon in Saugus. You can organize them by delivery time, food style, price, and more.

Then you order, sit back, don't eat your sponge, and wait for someone to drop the food off at your doorstep.

There will be an added cost as opposed to just waltzing up to the restaurant and ordering, but the app is very up-front about the fee. You also have an option to leave a tip in the app.

UberEATS is available 24/7.

Have you tried this yet? Plan on it? Let us know what you think!
