A Melrose Mom OD'd 1 Day Out Of Rehab. Her Dealer Pleaded Guilty

The 34-year-old Melrose mom was just one day out of rehab when a Lynn man sold her drugs. She died that day, and now he faces prison.

A Lynn man pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal drug charges that led to the fatal overdose of a Melrose mother one day after she got out of rehab.

Yeffry Reynoso, who also goes by Chris, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute at least 100 grams of heroin and at least 40 grams of fentanyl in 2016 and 2017, US Attorney Andrew Lelling's Office said. Reynoso also pleaded guilty to six counts of distributing heroin or fentanyl in 2017.

The Boston Globe said the Melrose woman was identified in court documents as K.H. The 34-year-old died in 2017, one day after leaving a 30-day rehab program in Taunton, according to The Globe.

Reynoso admitted that he sold and had others sell small quantities of heroin, heroin mixed with fentanyl, and/or fentanyl to people in Lynn, Melrose, Saugus, Peabody, Malden and surrounding areas, according to court documents. He said he sold the drugs almost daily, including once to the Melrose woman despite being told by her friend not to do so.

Reynoso will be sentenced on May 9. He faces a minimum of 5 years in prison but could get up to 40 years and faces a fine of up to $5 million. The plea agreement had both parties recommending a sentence of between 9-14 years, but the judge deferred acceptance of the plea agreement until the sentencing hearing.
