MELROSE, MA — The following are excerpts from last week's Melrose Police log. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Tuesday, July 24

2:58 p.m. - The Traffic Officer spoke with 3 teens who had been riding their bikes own the middle of Main St in traffic wile doing wheelies. They were also informed that they need to be wearing helmets

11:44 p.m. - 911 caller said she heard what she thought were fireworks or gunshots behind her Beech Ave. home.

Wednesday, July 25

4:23 a.m. - Caller said front window of Whittemore Hardware was smashed. Believed items were stolen. The store name was actually Madison Ave., police said.

6:59 a.m. - Multiple calls in came in about an MBTA bus with emergency lights on saying to call police. Police couldn't find the bus. Bus dispatch said it was an accident distress call.

8:52 a.m. - Someone said a person stopped at their Florence Street address to add trash to their weekly pick-up.

11:47 a.m. - Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Linwood Ave. on a warrant.

9:43 p.m. - A well-being check for a person sitting on the sidewalk on Main and West Wyoming. Ended in arrest of 48-year-old man from East Emerson.

Friday, July 27

11:43 am. - Walk-in report of a violation of a restraining order. Melrose man, 41, of Mount Vernon St. arrested.

Saturday, July 28

1:58 p.m. - Melrose Police are receiving an unusually large number of complaints about the well known the I.R.S. scam.

Sunday, July 29

12:06 a.m. - Walk-in report of a man being harassed by his brother. A 67-year-old Winchester man was issued a summons on charges of threatening to commit a crime.
