Here are some of the more notable entries from last weekend's Melrose Police log.

Friday, Sept. 1

12:41 a.m. — Caller reports bike-riding male wearing a dark hoodie looking around property on Porter Street. When confronted, person fled toward Main Street.

1:06 a.m. — Caller reports man broke into Essex St. apartment and attacked her. He was described as a medium build, gray hoodie, jeans, a buzz cut, and 6 feet tall.

11:34 a.m. — Caller reports bike stolen from Essex Street.

2:49 p.m. — Gray BMW reportedly sped up and down Woodcrest Drive., but police could not find it.

4:40 p.m. — Several calls received for an open manhole on Banks Place.

Saturday, Sept. 2

1:21 a.m. — Dog on the loose on Main near Reading Hill Ave.

5:13 p.m. — Caller reports kids on top of the pods at the Horace Mann.

8:11 p.m. — A woman allegedly was screaming and banging on a caller's front door on the Fellsway. The woman was transported to Stoneham.

Sunday, Sept. 3

12:44 a.m. — A caller heard strange noises in the hallway of a Pleasant Street address.

1:38 p.m. — A letter was reportedly stolen from someone's mailbox on East Foster Street.

11:31 p.m. — Caller said she heard a female scream in the Linwood Ave./Park St. area. Police found nothing.
