Melrose Pondfeilders Make ESPN.com

The locally-based team is featured in article about a vintage base ball tournament in upstate New York.

The Melrose Pondfeilders are featured in an article on ESPN.com's Page 2 about the National Silver Base Ball Tournament held this past weekend in upstate New York.

Yes, "Base Ball," with a space between the words. The Pondfeilders and other teams participating in the tournament play vintage base ball by 1860s rules: no gloves, no called balls or strikes, and a ball caught on one bounce is an out.

According to the ESPN article, the ninth annual National Silver Base Ball Tournament drew teams Maryland, Ohio, and Ontario, Canada to Genesee Country Village, a living history museum in Mumford, NY.
