Melrose Schools Closing For Second Staight Day Amidst Blizzard
The city's parking ban will also remain in effect.
MELROSE, MA — Melrose Public Schools will be closed for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, City Hall announced Monday evening.
This comes as a major blizzard hits Massachusetts, with Melrose and other neighboring communities receiving more than a foot of snow as of Monday afternoon. Snow began falling in the Bay State late Sunday night, and the storm ramped up in the pre-dawn hours of Monday, which also included fierce winds.
In addition to schools closing, the city-wide parking ban will also remain in effect until further notice. All vehicles parked on-street could be ticketed or towed while the ban is taking place.

"All municipal buildings and Melrose Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, February 24 to allow plows to continue focusing on clearing snow from major roadways and school buildings," Mayor Jen Grigoraitis said in a statement. "Even after snowfall concludes, high winds will continue to affect plowing progress and travel conditions, so please avoid any non-essential road travel."
Trash collection was delayed by one day due to the weather, but will not be delayed further despite schools and municipal buildings shutting down for an additional day.
