Melrose senior volunteers honored

senior center cheese and wine party

by Shirley Rabb

Today the Melrose Senior Center acknowledged all the efforts of the many volunteers that make up this community.

Deb Rizzo, the program coordinator and Georgie Lewis the center coordinator along with Doreen Lam had the room set up with food, wine and gifts for all who attended. A beautiful day and a job well done as they were also appreciated by the entire group for all they do to keep the center running.

The people that man the desk; those that help at the Tuesday night dinner and the daily lunches were applauded. Those that drive seniors to doctor appointments, and those that helped to keep our center busy with activities which make this center, and the city, a pleasant place to be. There are members who do the gardening and deliver library books to housebound seniors. Computer and Bingo instructors and the Fish drivers, all part of the 67 volunteers involved in keeping the Milano Center functioning.

Mayor Gail Innfurna was a welcome guest as she thanked all the volunteers for their help in the center and in the city of Melrose.

It was a great get-to-gather party with good food and wine (and soft drinks too).
