UPDATE: Melrose Sovereign Bank Branch on Main Street Robbed
Melrose Police were looking a suspect described as a white male in his early 20s, with a mustache, dark hair and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The branch at 492 Main St. in Melrose was robbed at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday by a man who passed a note to a teller, according to radio reports.
An officer at the station dispatch desk confirmed that the bank had been robbed.

Police reported over the radio a description of the robber as a white man in his early 20s, with a mustache, dark hair and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
The man was seen, according to radio reports, leaving in the direction of Fields Court, the parking lot behind Main Street. Police reported there was no dye pack in any cash taken by the robber.

Melrose Police Chief Mike Lyle said no further information was immediately available about the robbery.
On Thursday, Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said the robber left on foot and that he did not have an exact count of how much money was taken in the robbery.
Bank robberies are typically investigated jointly by local police, State Police and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force.
