Men Treated for Overdoses in City Hall Parking Lot on Monday

A third man who left the area prior to police arriving at the parking lot was later found and also taken to the hospital.

Two men who had overdosed were treated in the parking lot on early Monday evening and taken to , while a third man who left the area was later found and also taken to the hospital.

responded to a report at 6:20 p.m. from the , who said they were attending to the two men who had apparently overdosed and were unresponsive, Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said.

Each man was treated at the scene and then taken by ambulance to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for further treatment, DeCroteau said. Those men left the hospital later against medical advice.

Prior to officers arriving at the parking lot, a third man had walked away from incident. Melrose Police later found him on Myrtle Street and he was also taken by ambulance to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, DeCroteau said.

The three men were residents of Melrose, Hull and East Bridgewater, DeCroteau said.

"It's still under investigation as to how these individuals arrived there and how they requested assistance," he said, while declining to comment on the substance used in the overdoses due to an ongoing investigation.
