Model UN Conference: Melrose High Students win Outstanding Delegate Awards
The students participated in real-life simulations serving as world leaders.

MELROSE, MA—Three Melrose students took home Outstanding Delegate awards at the EagleMUNC conference this past weekend in Boston.
Melrose High School students Griffin Barriss, who representing General Pausanias of Sparta during the Peloponnesian War; as well as Lily Russell and Jenna Santos, who represented a double delegation of Thailand in an Interpol Committee took home Outstanding Delegate awards during the conference. Students worked as politicians, businesspeople and historical leaders in real-life situations.

"Congratulations to Griffin, Lily and Jenna for earning their Outstanding Delegate awards," Principal Marianne Farrell said in a statement. "All 20 of our high school students deserve recognition for their hard work and top-notch performances last weekend."
In total, Melrose High School's Model UN club sent 20 delegates to the conference. Students "negotiated ways to avoid wars, stop the spread of communism in America and addressed concerns of liberty and security in the past, present and future," according to the statement.

Russell and Santos' group had close to 200 students, with only 14 receiving recognition.
