
At 5am it was a soft snow shower; rain and snow falling silently to the still partially snow covered ground.
Now at 7am it is snowing. White flakes cover the bare path leading to the bird feeders and the snow falls gently on the naked birch trees and tall green pines.
It is a black and white picture in the early grey morning. The trees across the lake stand firm and still, as the snow covers the lake.

Yesterday some of my neighbors had a tent set up with chairs and fishing gear,just having a wonderful school vacation day. They left at 2pm and now there are no foot prints to be seen.
No wind moves the trees, and the bird feeders hang still on the stand. A woodpecker came yesterday to the newly filled suet feeders; but now even at the side of the house nothing is moving.

The trees filled with strong branches and leaves have started to show holiday signs on this February day. Gentle flakes on the green make me think of a Christmas holiday where almost every tree indoors is sprinkled with snow from a can. But today the snow is real.
The temperature is 30 degrees now as it was at 5am. Predictions of snow are low but, let us watch the beauty unfolding and we will wait and see.
