This has been a strange time for all of us, Red Hatters, and the world population alike.
We have been confined to our homes, to exist on Cyberspace, television, and phone calls. Yet we have survived.
Families got to know each other. There were new games and new recipes to try; and a feeling of apprehension and sometimes fear. Yet we have survived!

There were no baseball games, old timers, or the Spinners, or the Red Sox. There were no theaters to go to . Museums were closed and the Duck tours were cancelled. We could not sit in a restaurant of our choice, and we could not even have our meeting at the library; but we have survived!
As you read this in early May my prayers are that this Pandemic is over and we have all survived.

Our group of Red Hatters have been in touch with each other by all the scientific ways we could; we even used the old fashion post office way, by writing to each other. Cards and jokes and just a quick call has kept us together in spirit.
There was a day I took my lunch and sat in the car at the lake in Wakefield. The sky was turning grey , and with the windows open the air smelled fresh and clear. The trees seemed to reflect the real feel of the day. Bare branches reaching for the sky in a symbol that looked, to me , as a hope of prayers.
Was I over imagining? Or are the trees just hoping for more clear sky's to be reborn again, with leaves of green and nests of birds. Where the children will be playing beneath their towering shadows. We have time to think now, to dream, and, pray for a better time. We will survive.
There was the need to get food and pharmacy items.; and we were given early hours at most places; 6-7:30, early for many but necessary to stay safe.
We wore the required makeshift protection and hastened to get back home. It was strange to see only the eyes of our neighbors on the streets or in the stores. It was a time for hardship and tears, and hope .
WE are RED HATTERS and we will continue to survive!
