Red Hatters for April and May

It appears that my April submission got lost in Cyber Space so what you have now is two months of Red Hat outings

It was April 3rd and we went to the Newton Senior center to watch Sheryl Faye become Elinor Roosevelt.

Her performance of this remarkable women was, as usual exceptional.

Lunch was across the street at the Lincoln restaurant of course, on Lincoln street. It is a Pizza and Italian cuisine spot. Small, clean and great food to fill us up as we discussed Sheryl's performance.

April 4th. off to the Concord Jail for lunch. $3.21 for soup, salad, a roast beef dinner with potatoes and veggies and Lemon cake and cookies for dessert.(plus a cold drink and coffee) No pictures because only our ID's and money are able to get into the facility with us. It is a great get away (at least for lunch). The men that serve are in a culinary program that will lead them to a possible restaurant job when they get out.

April 12th our regular meeting at the Wakefield library puts our minds to work regarding upcoming events.

To continue clearing our minds we went to Floramo's in Wakefield. Actually Dockside / Floramo's. Best ribs, and the meat does fall of the bone. Belly's full and minds cleared that was it for this day,with leftovers for dinner.

April 26th the Stoneham Senior Center was featuring two women who we thought would be talking about plants and trees and how they grow and how to take care of them. Much to our surprise, Diane Edgecomb and Margot Chamberlain told us about plant and flowers in song. It was an amazing performance..the first time we had seen them and it would be on our list to visit them again given the chance. The two ladies have done outdoor programs at the Arnold Arboretum ass well as performances all over the country,with Diane singing and Margot playing the harp. They hope to share the beauty that they have found in these ancient legends and songs and in the deep spirit of trees.

Two members were off to the Stoneham theater so lunch was a quick trip to the Amore Pizza restaurant in Stoneham.

Good way to end this month...and we continue to move on to May.

It was May 7th. and three members went to the Concord Players to see the performance of Little Women.

Some of our other members had family commitments, and two members were enjoying themselves with their family members as they cruised the Danube. But the three that went enjoyed the play. The music and drama and adventure of the times was done professionally; it was a wonderful show.The play, at this time, was to honor the 190th birthday of Louisa May Alcott who lived in Concord with her sisters and their Marmee while their father was off in the Civil War .

We enjoyed our dinner on the patio at the Brickyard restaurant in Woburn where the food is always great. No matter how many members can attend our outings, we are always Red Hat Happy.

May 11th. we were entertained, once again, by Sheryl Faye as she portrayed the life of Susan B. Anthony. Today it was the Melrose Senior center. We enjoy Sheryl as she continues to amaze us with her acting skills as she portrays the lives of Historical Women.

Off to Liberty Bell for an early dinner and conversation about the show and what to do next.

On the 15th two of us, with two non Red Hatters were attending once again, Sheryl Faye. This performance was at the Pelham NH Senior Center. One of our members lives in Pelham and it was a different venue for us. Sheryl brought Laura Ingalls Wilder to life.

Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books, based on her own childhood and later life, are still beloved classics almost a century later. There were many books, but Pioneer Girl, Little House on The Prairie, and one we should all relate to is called These Happy Golden Years.

We headed for Methuen, just about 20 minutes away. We had and excellent meal at the Rae Rocks Bar and Grill.

Seafood and steak tips both were served nicely and tasted great.

It was a surprise to see Sheryl Fay again, but we do enjoy her performances; even if had seen them before.

We will be heading for warmer weather places to go soon so keep an eye on us as we continue to be RED HAT HAPPY.
