Red Hatters for August 2022

Boy, has it been HOT and HUMID; but you know all that. By the time you read this we would be into September with cooler and more pleasant weather. I have to admit that the weather has kept most of us home in the air-conditioning but now we are back on the go...

On August 10th. we had our regular meeting and we are happy to say that we are back at the Wakefield Library, rather than Brother's. (nothing wrong with Brother's ) but it is noisy; and we can always go to Brother's.

We were productive in our outlook of places to go in the next few months but for today we decided on a new restaurant for lunch.

One of our members had eaten at Sam Walker's on Montvale Ave and she said it was very good.,I am sorry to say that those of us that went today were very disappointed. The service was slow..very slow, and the food (after almost an hour wait) was only fair. But we tried and know this is not on our list to return.

Let's move forward to ...August 14th. when we went to Hamilton to see a Polo Match.

It was a beautiful day, sunny and cool and just what we had hoped for. We parked our cars in the shade and put our chars up close to the line where we had a great view of the whole field.

Today's game was the UNITED STATES POLO ASSOCIATION W., Cameron Forbes Cup Finals, and it was a champions game.

Both teams, red and blue, crossed the field as the players sat atop the magnificent horses. The battle is to hit the ball into the goals at either end of the huge field. The horses are changed during the games so that no one horse stays on the field before getting a rest and brush down.

In today's game the Red team won by a score of 19 1/2 to 19. Strange scoring and many strange rules but fun to watch.

. Our dinner out was at Grill 110 in Saugus and it was really good. Good food, excellent service and of course, great conversation among the group.

It did not take long before we were off again. This time it was on the 16th of August and we drove to Boston to see the King Tut exhibit at the SO WA Power Station.

This was a wonderful experience through time. The commentaries and visual exhibits were outstanding. We walked through three rooms of information and moving photos of the life and time of King Tut.

The room with more virtual exhibits left us amazed at the changing scenes on the walls around us and the feel of the floor even changing at times.

We were awed by what we saw, and everyone exiting the exhibit had the same thoughts.

We walked across the parking lot to have our meal at the Brasserie Boston restaurant. Sandwich and salads were the order of the day, and all of us were happy with our choices.

A beautiful day to reflect and hope that other exhibits like this one will keep coming along.

Here we are almost the end of the month but we are not giving up..Eight members heading to The Tuckaway in Raymond NH. for our two for one lobster rolls.

As you know, if you are following our outings, we have been here before. But only on Monday or Tuesday where we get a great lobster roll for $21.00 and a second one free, along with two sides. You just can't beat the price or the quality and service at Tuckaway.

One of our member (the one in a purple hat) was celebrating her birthday this month. The team at Tuckaway sang Happy Birthday and we each got a slice of cake.

It is always a great time.
