Red Hatters for December 2023

Here we are into December WOW; how did that happen so fast?

On December 2nd.we headed to Waltham to see the Reagle players start our month with the wonderful presentation of Christmas Time. It was two hours of exciting musical arrangements with a full staff of outstanding performers; including many children, some even four and five years old.

The singing voices of the stars filled the hall; and the dancing from renditions of the

New York Rockets to the marching of the Toy Solders kept us spellbound.

Costume changes and scenery changes took us back to the old fashioned holidays.

It was a wonderful day to start the season of peacefulness and joy.

December 7th and it was our own Holiday Party at Brother's in Wakefield. We had a very short meeting, we ate and drank our breakfast ,and then we started to go through our recycled gifts in a Yankee Swap. We spoke of two members that have passed on this year; and one more still in the hospital. It was a good time to reflect in this season of light and hope.

Later in the day we headed for the Stoneham Senior Center to see the Delvina players perform with the reading of "The Christmas Carol".

The three members of the group played many parts. with Lynne Moulton changing voices for 16 members of the people of the time.

Marly came back from the dead to help Scrooge, played by Joseph Zamparelli, to help him mend his ways. Fran Baron was narrator and also acted as Mrs. Cratchit.

Classic Christmas music was background to the performance creating a holiday feeling in the hall.

On December 12th we stayed right here in Melrose to enjoy the Winter Celebration at the Memorial Hall.

Disc Jockey John Ross kept the music coming as we started a great lunch.

The food was supplied by Neillios Gourmet Deli from Lexington. We started with salad and cold drinks; followed by lasagna and cream pie with whipped cream plus the choice of coffee or tea .

We were served by the members of the Melrose Police department and many volunteers from the Milano center.

It was a fun time with thanks to Erika and her staff of volunteers for getting it all together.

A visit from Santa and his elves made a surprise visit as bags of goodies were passed out.

There were gifts for all and even table center pieces for winners.

Two of our group took home beautiful poinsettia plants to bright up our homes.

This was a wonderful party given to the senior residents of Melrose by the caring group of Council of Aging members.

On the 14th. it was off once again, to see Sheryl Faye as the queen of England. By this time you know we are fans of Sheryl , enjoying her performance as Historical Women.

This performance had a Buckingham palace guard on hand. The Reading Senior center took all the stops out by adding crowns for everyone and for us to get a chance to chat with the impressive guard.

Lunch was back to one of our favorites The 99 restaurant in Stoneham.We have had a fun filled month. Great parties and many wishes for a happy holiday season amongst our group.

As we approach the New year of 2024 we wish all our readers a healthy, happy and prosperous year.
