Red Hatters for January 2024

by Shirley Rabb

Can you believe it....this is January 2024. We sure are lucky to be here; and to be thinking about visiting some new places, and revisiting some old spots.

On January 1st we started this year as we have in the past by going to a movie.

The Color Purple was our choice. After the previews on TV and all the hype, we went to the Woburn Theater to see what everyone was talking about.

There was mixed emotions about the two and a half hour film. The story is about a black woman being abused by her husband in Georgia in the 1900's. The music was loud and it sort of cut the story to pieces, although again music of the times. The ending was happy but again split to pieces by the Hollywood songs and the dancing performances.

I liked it but I cannot rate it my Number one film.

On January 26th it was off to have a Pizza Party lunch and listen to Elvis. Al Fortucci has been doing Elvis for more than a few years and he has perfected the mannerisms and the voice of the Great One.

It was a huge crowd for lunch and fun at the Saugus Senior Center today.

For $5.00 we had salad, two slices of pizza, coffee, cake and a hoodsie. Just enough food and good music, what more could a person ask for on a rainy January afternoon

On January 31st five members took a day for lunch, just to end the month.

Off to the Good thymes in Lowell for great food and wonderful desserts.

You have to pass the dessert cabinet before being seated and the selections are WOW. We have on occasion had dessert before our meal and then it was take home boxes.

The atmosphere is really nice and the service is great, as well as the regular food.

So now we are heading int February looking for some great places to enjoy our days together.

We are a together group that likes to enjoy each day. This is the Red Hat Way...

See you soon, keep checking us out on the Patch for more good places to go and fun things to do.
