Here it is on the 1st. of June and we joined a group going from the Melrose senior center heading for the WOO SOX in Worcester.
The day threatened rain and generally overcast skies but, it is baseball time, and it is the Red Sox farm team, so we were all happy to be on the way.
The two buses headed west and we were all excited to be aboard.

It was cool but it was an exciting game. The Woo’s led throughout the game but the Syracuse Mets made a gallant try in the ninth inning. One out and a man on base…and the Woo’s pitcher struck out the last two men. Final score….Woo Sox 6; Syracuse Mets 5. What an ending for a great game.
June 7th it was a trip to the Phillips Academy in Andover. We journeyed there to see a wonderful exhibit of Georgia O'Keeffe.

An artist that has spanned many years as she did wonderful photography with shadows of simple things. She painted in various modes as she spent much of her earlier art life in New York surrounded by huge buildings and city scenes. She spent much of her later life in New Mexico where colors surrounded her and her art works.
She is most remembered for her collection of art work on things like flowers and colorful western scenery.
She said " I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way. Things I had no words for".
She died at age 98 in her home in New Mexico, where there is a museum of many of her works.
Our meal was at Grassfields in Andover and as usual..food, service, and just being together made it a wonderful
day.
June 21st and it was a short trip to the Senior Center in Wakefield where we got to meet Julia Child.
Lynne Moulton, a member of the Delvena Theater Company did a wonderful performance of one of the great cooks of all time.
Lynne has performed in this area before and we have always enjoyed her performances. She has performed all over the country and in Manchester England's Rec Theater; she played Queen Elizabeth in "Richard the Third" in the Vanburgh
theater in London. She won the Maine State Best Actress Award in 1990 for her performance as Blanche Dubois in Lakewood Theater's production of "Streetcar Named Desire".
Accompanying " Julie" was Fran Baron , who also is a playwright, producer and theatrical manager in her own right.
They were funny and a joy to watch.

June 28 and picnic time at Salem Willows.
We had our chairs, a nice sunny day, a shade tree and a variety of food to choose from. There was fried shrimp and scallops, hot dogs, salad, pizza and of course the traditional Chop Suey sandwich; with ice cream for most of us too.
Salem Willows was named for the European white Willow trees that were planted here in 1801 to form a shaded walk for patients convalescing at the old smallpox hospital.
one husband came along as a guest,he forgot his red hat..
This is a great place for family or good friends to enjoy a lovely day with the sea, the boats and the seagulls.
