Red Hatters for March 2023

We started this month on March 9th. by heading to the Northeast regional school in Wakefield for a manicure at 10:30,and then off to lunch at noon right there in the school.

It was a fun morning and an inspiration walking along the halls with a group of teens..the future leaders of our country.

On March 16th. we boarded a bus at the Melrose Senior Center and headed for Newbury St. in Boston to see the most magnificent exhibit of Lego's. The Art of the Brick displayed over one million Lego bricks that were transformed into more than 70 sculptures by artist Nathan Sawaya.

There was a 20 foot Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton that had 80,020 pieces

The exhibit was more than we expected and we were all happy to have had the opportunity to visit this remarkable display.

Back to the Senior Center and lunch at Liberty Bell. Good food, and a fun place to gather.

March 17th. of course, is St. Patrick's day and we were off to the Stoneham Senior Center to celebrate the wearing of the Purple, Red Hats and a touch of green.

There was a boxed lunch donated by the local politician. We were entertained by the dynamic duo and singing and clapping filled the room. It was a great day for all of us.

March 26th is was to see Sheryl Faye appearing at the Jenks Center in Winchester. Sheryl's performance brought Clara Barton to life. Clarissa Harlowe Barton (December 25, 1821 – April 12, 1912) was an American nurse who founded the American Red Cross. She was a hospital nurse in the American Civil War, a teacher, and a patent clerk. Since nursing education was not then very formalized and she did not attend nursing school, she provided self-taught nursing care. Barton is noteworthy for doing humanitarian work and civil rights advocacy at a time before women had the right to vote. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1973.

Lunch for today was at The First House Pub in Winchester, a new restaurant for us. We all climbed up onto high stools, enjoyed the food and wonderful service. A come back place., but we will call ahead to ask for lower seats.

March 30th. was the opening day of the Red Sox game and we went to the Melrose Senior Center to watch and applaud the game and the players.

We had popcorn, hot dogs and cold drinks, complements of the center. We cheered the hits, and enjoyed the fact of opening day; but as you all know the Red Sox lost..An exciting day.. but it was only the first game.

I must say that after the opening day...The Sox won the next two games.
