Sunday November 6th. and three members headed for the Methuen Music Hall, which in itself is a place to see.
We came to see the Shriners Swing Band, and what a band it is.
The Swing Band is a seventeen-piece big band. They have been raising funds for the Shrines Hospital for over fifty years. Formed in 1972, members of the Shriners Swing Band are dedicated volunteers, and all proceeds derived by the bands performances are contributed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

There were songs performed by the greats of the Big Band Era. Songs by Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Harry James and Count Basie. There was also a featured vocalist that even acknowledged us as Red Hatters to the group and the audience.
It was a great 90 minutes of memories with a lot of toe tapping.

Our dinner was at Irish Cottage in Methuen. An Irish band played background music to the noisy but pleasant atmosphere. The food was good with take out boxes.
The first day of Daylight Savings and a darker ride home but....It was a good day!
November 13 and off to see the Concord Players perform the play "13 Steps". This play is based on the 1935 adventure spy film "39 Steps", an Alfred Hitchcock play that appeared on Broadway. We did not know the story behind the play and we were disappointed. The four performers did their parts to perfection, but we (7 of us) could not quite get the drift.

We had great meals at the Continental restaurant in Woburn, as the day grew shorter. Four thirty and it was getting darker. We spoke of the play, and all our upcoming outings stretching into next year.
If you are a Red Hatter you have got to keep moving.
November 15 and it was our family Thanksgiving dinner at the home of one of our members.

Each member brought a part of the meal; of course there was turkey, veggies and dip, salad, cranberry sauce, squash, banquettes, mashed potatoes, pie and ice cream and baklava for dessert.

There were take home boxes for everyone to enjoy the next day. It was a feeling of thanksgiving that we enjoy every time we spend time together.
We hope your holiday was special, and that the rest of this holiday season will be healthy and happy for you also.

November 29th and we really started to get into the season by heading out to Methuen to see the Festival of Trees.
There were over 200 trees and wreaths. The colors and various themes made it a wonderful exhibit to put us into the humming and almost singing mood. We got in at a senior rate of Zero and had a wonderful time walking leisurely around to admire the the beginning of a most wonderful season.

In the eyes of a child it is a magical time.
May your holiday season be Merry and Bright...
