Red Hatters October 2023

I must apologize if some of the pictures do not come thru. I don't know why. But I hope they do, and you can use your imagination if they don't.

We started this month by heading for the Disney Immersive Exhibit in Boston. We got there a bit early so we sat outside and talked with visitors from North Carolina.

We entered into a large room with benches, enough for those that came to the 1pm showing.

The walls kept moving with scenes of all the Disney movies, Some of the newer pictures seemed to pass us by but we did remember many of the others.

We stopped to pose with a few of the characters on the way out.

It was an amazing exhibit. We sat still or stood carefully as the floor seemed to move around us; but it was fun.

We stopped at Grimsby's in Melrose on the way home. Good food, out of the city traffic,and another Red Hat day to remember.

On October 14th. five members drove to Newburyport to the Firehouse Center for the Arts to see a new play. The name of the play is "Best If Used by" performed by two North Shore actors, Becky Axelrod and Barbara Bourgeois both at the ages close to 80. Their performance was wonderful as they danced and sang and table-hopped on the stage.

This was a play about a story of love and loss, resentment and reconciliation. It was at times hilarious, poignant and provocative, and fun to watch.

The 92 seat theater is on the second floor of the building accessed by elevator. The first floor houses the Sea Level Oyster Bar restaurant where we ate after the show. We found the food good but a bit pricey.

All in all...it was a new play...a new restaurant...and a new location for us so....it was another Good Day.

On the 19th. we headed for Lowell to once again see the New England Quilt Museum. Returning to the museum is always a new experience because the displays change throughout the year. We had a wonderful docent take us through the museum explaining the different types of quilting.

This picture made us think the quilt was a painted picture; but it is not ;outstanding, don't you think?

Mary explained the types of quilting and use of yarns in colors and strengths.

This piece dated back to 1845and had to be put on a elevated board on the floor because it is just to fragile to hang.

Animals took up one room in different styles and beautiful colors

Bright colors and multi patterns took our breadth away. If you are a quilter we applaud you all.

How dramatic is this? The visit was exceptional, educational and a great trip.

Lunch was at Good Thymes restaurant in Lowell where we had great food, and huge and wonderful desserts.

Chocolate peanut butter pies, pecan pie with ice cream, and chocolate cream pie. No dinners for us tonight.

Sunshine, colorful quilts, and desserts to remember. That's the way we go....
