Report: Melrose Schools 94th on Boston Magazine's Best Schools List
The city's schools climbed three spots in the magazine's annual ranking of public school districts in the region.

Melrose has climbed three spots in Boston Magazine's annual ranking of public schools in the region.
In the magazine's September 2011 issue, the Melrose Public School district comes in at 94 out of 135 districts.

Last year, the magazine ranked high schools specifically and ranked Melrose High School 97th.

According the Boston Magazine's website, to compile the rankings, magazine staffers compared test scores from elementary, middle, and high schools in 135 districts, then compared to past scores to determine whether the scores were improving or not.
Magazine staffers also took into account the number of AP classes offered at the high school, the availability of freshmen sports, pre-kindergarten programs and other factors in compiling the rankings.
