UPDATE: Video Shows Melrose Mobil Clerk Fend Off Robber With Crowbar

A video posted on YouTube shows the clerk at Melrose Mobil using a crowbar to fend off a would-be robber on Wednesday night.

Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said on Friday afternoon, "The one I saw on YouTube appears to be the same robbery. I’ll tell you that’s not the entire video. That looks like a portion of it."

Melrose Patch that the clerk struggled with a robber who jumped behind the counter on Wednesday night and snatched cash out of the register. received a call at 9:06 p.m. from the clerk reporting that the store had just been robbed.

DeCroteau said on Thursday that police are still inventorying the money at the store and could not comment on whether the robber made away with any cash after the struggle. He also declined to comment on any injuries resulting from the struggle, citing the ongoing investigation.
